Band playing at a wedding

Photobooths, entertainers, live music… When planning your wedding there is so much entertainment to choose from. With your nearest and dearest present for one of the biggest days of your life, we know you’ll want to get the atmosphere just right! This can be a little tricky – finding something you love, your spouse loves, the guests will love and that compliments your chosen venue too!

Here are some of our favourite ideas to wow your wedding guests!

Live Music – Acoustic sounds, saxophones, jazz, quartets and more

Live music is the best way to get everyone on their feet and dancing! Music plays a huge part in creating the perfect ambience. There are so many options to choose from! Soft background music is recommended for your drinks reception, something that’s not too overpowering while guests natter. For example, an acoustic singer, a pocket orchestra or our in-house pianist will sound brilliant.

During your evening reception, you may want something more upbeat. If you’ve booked your wedding at Wynyard Hall, why not speak with your Wedding Coordinator about a party for your evening reception, swing singer, big band or a DJ? Email weddings@wynyardhall.co.uk for more information.

Sweets and Treats

Offering your guests some tasty treats is sure to keep them occupied for an hour or two.

If you’re planning a spectacular summer wedding why not hire an ice-cream van? Lizzie and Alan were married at Wynyard Hall and hired a vintage one to match their theme. It got everyone outside in the sun and mingling, which is perfect when your wedding venue is surrounded by gorgeous historic parkland and a beautiful lake. Plus you can’t go wrong with this – everyone loves ice-cream!

If you’d prefer to keep your guests indoors, have you thought about hiring a sweet cart? Or, if you’re feeling creative, you could make one yourself… Newly-weds Laura and Jake, placed the most divine treat table in our Ballroom, where they enjoyed their wedding breakfast. It was filled with delicious macaroons and fancy cupcakes. The soft pastel colours really complimented the Ballroom’s colour scheme and childhood favourites to add a touch of nostalgia.

Photo Booths

Photo booths are great fun and create perfect memories of your wedding day, giving your guests a little souvenir to take home with them! They allow guests of all ages to get together and have a little fun. Plus, it can fill some time during the afternoon, before your evening reception starts. If you would like your wedding photography to be more relaxed and informal, a photobooth is a more contemporary alternative to the traditional guest book. Our recommend suppliers, Snaparazzi, have some fantastic booths! They can provide contemporary or vintage styles to match your theme and our venue.

Coco Luminaire – Add a personal touch

Some couples that were married at Wynyard Hall choose to add a special touch to their wedding decor with love letters. COCO Luminaire have an extensive collection of illuminated letters, numbers, vintage cinema style signage, hearts and arrows, that look fabulous in our Ballroom and Conservatory. Light-up letters can look really attractive behind the top table during your wedding breakfast or even surrounding the stage throughout your evening celebrations.

Why not make it personal, by choosing your own initials?

Cocktail Hour

If you want to delight your guests from the moment they arrive, why not swap the Prosecco at your drinks reception for a cocktail? Or, if you really want to wow them, go for a cocktail hour in the afternoon. This is perfect if you have an hour or two to kill before your evening reception is ready. Wynyard Hall has a fabulous drinks menu, or if you want to make a real ‘just married’ statement, why not go for a signature cocktail? Our team can create a bespoke bride and groom cocktail, just for you! Please speak with your Wedding Coordinator for more details!

Amusing Garden Games

Our Terrace is perfect for outdoor games! So, set up some giant garden games to get people outside and admiring the beautiful view across the lake. Some Wynyard brides and grooms have chosen Jenga or Connect Four – oversized Twister could get a bit messy! Garden games are also a great way to entertain the children while the adults enjoy a spot of fizz.

Hire a Caricaturist

Hiring a cartoonist is a great ice-breaker! They are often remarkably skilled and super quick – some can produce portraits in less than 5 minutes. This is sure to provide a talking point and get people mingling. Apart from that your guests will also have a unique memento to cherish – a fun memory to remember your special day!

Place your bets and try your luck… If you want to help your guests relax and enjoy your wedding, a blackjack tournament or casino table can help your crowd get social. The money may not be real but the entertainment will be priceless! A guaranteed fun evening for you and your guests, plus it’s a fail safe entertainment option for all weather!

Mirror Me

Every bride dreams of a fairy tale wedding, and now couples are adding a touch of ‘Snow White’ with magic selfie mirrors that talk to their guests! Much like photo booths, they are perfect for group shots and portraits – providing hours of fun. The images can also be personalised with your signature or a lovely message from the bride and groom.
