Yummy things Jams

Just like our name suggests, everything we create is packed with fresh, local, seasonally-sourced (and very yummy) ingredients.

We just make things the way you would at home, cooking our jams and chutneys in open maslin pans in small, handmade batches. And we always take our time to get them just right.

You can enjoy our jams and chutneys in lots of delicious ways – use them to liven up a salad, elevate a cold meat sandwich, spice up a pastry, revolutionise a roast… the only limit is your imagination!

Black Paw Brewery

“Brewing real ale in the Land of the Prince Bishops”

In 2010, Phil Whitfield decided the time was right to break free and take on that ‘now or never’ project. And so the Black Paw Brewery was born.

“We just want to brew good, honest beer for people to enjoy and we want to have fun brewing it.”

Paul Craddock, Dropswell Farm Butcher

“The provenance of our food is important to us and we source as much as possible locally. You don’t get much more local than the farm next door.”

Animal welfare is paramount and livestock is fed using crops grown on the farm and are reared non-intensively. A butcher for 25 years, Paul Craddock knows exactly how to handle their own-reared beef and Gloucester Old Spot pork.

Dropswell Farm Shop and Farm Yard Cafe, at Trimdon Village, County Durham, has recently opened a butcher’s shop and is branching out into speciality meats and pies.

The shop, which is run by Paul and Christine Craddock, sells locally sourced meat including produce from the attached Dropswell Farm.

It is now starting to provide speciality products including chorizos, salamis, pies and smoked venison.

Acorn Dairy

“Farming that’s in harmony with the natural environment”

The Tweddle family has been farming at Archdeacon Newton, near Darlington, since 1928 and today, four generations later, they are still heavily involved in dairy farming. The increasing use of pesticides, antibiotic residue awareness, cow welfare and the ‘horsemeat-gate’ scandal have all led to greater demand than ever for the Acorn Dairy range of organic products.

“Our cows eat grass that’s been grown in healthy, chemical free soils and surrounded by abundant hedges. This benefits everyone – the cows, wildlife & humans”

Rather than using chemical-based fertilisers, Acorn improve soil fertility naturally by growing deep-rooting legumes (red clover and beans) and recycling farmyard manure as compost.

Cartwright & Butler

The idea was to create jams and preserves that tasted better than homemade. From a rented room in a nearby spice packing factory, the Cartwright & Butler brand soon developed and our range expanded. It was always our passion to add a sense of luxury to the brand, through the ingredients and the packaging.
