Although Wynyard Hall has been in my family for over 30 years and I’ve grown up listening to conversations about it round the dinner table, I officially started working for the company 9 years ago.
I always had a passion for hospitality and once I completed my degree in hospitality and business management there was no question where I was going to work. My first role was as wedding coordinator, and I’ve had the privilege of working in numerous different roles and have been able to grow as the business has grown, which I think has been a fantastic and unique experience. I took over as CEO in January 2021 and although I’ve worked here for 9 years, I feel like I’m only just getting started!
My key skills are:
My knowledge of Wynyard Hall. I would dare to say I know the place inside out by now so I always trust my gut when it comes to Wynyard.
Day to day I:
My day always starts with a dog walk. With 120 acres of parkland to keep check on, the first thing I do when I get to work is grab a coffee and take the dog for a spin around the grounds. Following that, my day could involve anything. As CEO I have to keep a lot of plates spinning which is the hardest but also one of the best things about my job, it’s so varied that I’m always dealing with something different which is exciting and keeps me on my toes!
I love my job because:
Of the people I work with! My colleagues are undoubtedly what keeps me going. I love to see them progress and develop and get to know them on a personal as well as a professional level. Wynyard Hall is also to me, the most stunning estate in the Northeast so being able to market that and create our brand is something I love.
In my spare time I:
Love to relax and destress, whether that’s a trip to the beach with my dog, gardening, a meal out with friends and family or just watching a bit of Brigerton on Netflix… my time outside of work is always about relaxing and having fun with my favourite people/animals.
My future goals are:
To ensure the longevity of Wynyard Hall. We are only caretakers of this estate, it was here long before us and will be here long after and I want to do everything I can to ensure it’s continued success.
