Sarah and Aaron’s Wedding at Wynyard Hall

Aaron Herd, General Manager at the Impeccable Pig and Sarah Herd, NHS Resilience Manager at a GP Practice, both from the North East in neighbouring towns of Peterlee and Blackhall, tied the knot at Wynyard Hall in their intimate wedding after having met back in 2014 on an impromptu night out with friends!

We asked Sarah and Aaron to tell us a little about everything wedding related and in the run up to (including the proposal).. the couple got engaged at the Indigo Hotel, Birmingham during a weekend away where Aaron had proposed in the rooftop restaurant which overlooked the city while a live singer and pianist played in the background making it the most romantic setting to pop the question!

Why Wynyard Hall?

Fast forward a little and the decision was made by the couple to have their wedding here at Wynyard Hall, but what made them choose our location for their magical day? The couple tell us that they fell in love with Wynyard as soon as they visited and that it felt perfect for them, from the initial drive up to the Hall to stepping foot in the main building, they felt the surroundings of Wynyard were breath taking and provided an intimate and romantic feel which was exactly what they were looking for.

Aaron and Sarah were actually married during the COVID-19 pandemic when guest numbers for weddings had to be restricted by law so the ultimate goal for the couple was to make the day feel super special and full of love for their nearest and dearest so with that in mind, they didn’t have a specific theme for their wedding day but one of Sarah’s favourite elements to the day was having a banqueting table to fit all of their guests around and was filled with candles to really make the ambience perfect.

The Wedding Dress

We asked the Bride to tell us a little about her wedding dress and she describes it as being a romantic, ruching ballgown with off the shoulder straps and was ivory tulle and regency organza over a moscato gown and was from The Wedding Dress Company, Corbridge.

The Wedding Day

We asked Sarah and Aaron what the most memorable part of their day was and they tell us about the minutes after their ceremony where everyone gathered in front of the lake, sharing a drink and enjoying each others company after being laced in confetti. The couple explain that as their wedding took place during a global pandemic, it was really magical for them to be able to enjoy time together with family and friends after so long not being able to see each other, and, the sun even made an appearance!

Sarah and Aaron explain that their wedding planning experience and wedding itself at Wynyard Hall was fantastic from having an excellent relationship with their Wedding Coordinator to the staff on the day, they were made to feel like royalty, everything was taken care of from start to finish.

Planning The Wedding

Planning a wedding can be a very time consuming job so we asked Sarah and Aaron for some tips for future brides and grooms who would like to be have their wedding at Wynyard Hall and they advise that you don’t get caught up in the hype of planning and to just go with the flow of everything and enjoy the whole experience, having this outlook made their experience stress free and overall made them very happy.

Finally, we wanted to catch up to see if they couple had been on a honey moon but due to restrictions, they were unable however they did get some time together to celebrate new married life with a break in a hot-tub cottage bu

We asked the happy couple to leave us with some parting words from their wedding at Wynyard Hall “Having a smaller wedding topped anything we ever expected, obviously it was not what we originally planned but we got to spend the day with our nearest and dearest on a really close level, it was just so special. The room felt full and we all never stopped laughing and dancing. All you could feel was so much love and happiness.”
