Wedding speeches in the Ballroom

The happily married Mr and Mrs Warriner have shared their romantic wedding story with us. We were thrilled to be part of their big day! Read all the proposal in Dubrovnik, their ceremony, reception and celebrations.

Q: The groom’s name, age and profession?
A: Dennis Warriner, 61, Construction Project Manager

Q: The bride’s name, age and profession?
A: Jennifer Brett, 47, Senior Environmental Consultant

Q: Where are you both from?
A: Dennis is from Middlesbrough, and Jennifer is from Amersham, Bucks.

Q: Can you tell us how you met?
A: Working on the same site together in Essex.

Q: Tell us about the proposal…
A: Whilst having a romantic dinner for Dennis’ 60th birthday in Dubrovnik.

Q: What made you choose Wynyard Hall?
A: Dennis showed me the venue. He had been there previously.

Q: What is your favourite room (i.e. Chapel / Mirror Room / Ballroom / Conservatory) and why?
A: The Conservatory – it’s a pretty impressive structure.

Q: What colour scheme / theme / flowers did you choose?
A: Cream flowers with touch of burgundy. I chose an autumnal theme to match bridesmaids’ dusky pink dresses.

Q: How many guests did you have?
A: 20 family guests during the day time ceremony and an additional 80 friends for the evening reception.

Q: What was your Wedding Coordinator like to work with? Were there any staff who particularly stood out on the day?
A: Clare was fantastic, very patient, cheerful and friendly. She put us at ease and explained every step to us – she was perfect!
Ryan our MC was also a complete star – what a fabulous man!

Q: What did you do the day/night before your Wedding?
A: Dennis stayed at home and had a few drinks with his son / best man.
Jennifer and her parents enjoyed an overnight in the Lady Sarah, they also had a meal in the Restaurant the night before.

Q: Tell us about the dress… What style was it? Where was it from? What did your bridesmaids wear?
A: I wore a floor length strappy ivory silk dress with light gold netting covered with from a boutique in Oxfordshire.
My bridesmaids chose their own dresses. They wore gorgeous strappy lace dusky pink, shin length dresses.

Q: What did the groom wear, and where was it from?
A: He wore a bespoke dark grey suit, made specifically for the wedding by a tailor in Chester.

Q: Tell us about your wedding photos… which one was your favourite and why?
A: We used 2Tone Photography, one of Wynyard Hall’s recommended suppliers. We got a mix of external and internal shots. Our external shots were outside the Hall and on the Terrace overlooking the lake – there were lovely blue skies on the day. Our internal shots included our ceremony in the Mirror Room , some fab family shots on the Terrace with the gorgeous lake behind us, and our wedding breakfast in the Ballroom. We also have some of our first dance and guests enjoying the band in the Conservatory.

Q: Tell us about your entertainment…
A: We had a band called Wildwood from Nottinghamshire – the front man Kris Ward, played an acoustic guitar and sang for 1 hour during the post-ceremony drinks reception. Then the whole band played for a couple of hours in the evening interspersed by Persona DJ. Everyone commented on how outstanding the entertainment was, both the band and the DJ!

Q: And your honeymoon?
A: We’re heading off to Vietnam for 10 days via Dubai in February 2018.

Q: Do you have any wedding planning tips?
A: Make a list early on of everything to remember – ask your wedding co-ordinator at the first meeting for all their requirements up front and get a close friend to help.

Q: Would you recommend Wynyard Hall to other couples?
A: Yes most definitely.
