What are your full names? Age and Profession?
Niall & Beth from Washington, Tyne and Wear.
Niall is 26 and a Police Officer, and Beth is 23 and is a Government Official.
How did you meet?
We were set up on a date by the mother of the bride. Beth’s mum and Niall worked together at the time and she knew we would really get on well. Seven years later here we are as newlyweds!
Tell us about the proposal…
We were on a cruise in the Mediterranean, just off the coast of Sorrento. Niall had arranged for the captain to invite us both up to the bridge of the ship to see how they control and sail the ship. The captain offered us to go out onto the Captains private deck to see the views from the very front of the ship, Niall got down on one knee and proposed at sunset! The captain then allowed us to blow the ship horn and made an announcement to the passengers that Beth had said yes!
And the venue…
Wynyard Hall was the first venue we looked at and we were blown away from the beginning. The Mirror Room was our favourite, as it was the room we chose to get married inn, we loved the ceiling painting, and it’s very Beauty and the Beast! However, the conservatory is one of our favourites too as it is very modern light and classy.
We love the drive up and the entrance hall. Nothing compared after visiting Wynyard!
How many guests did you have?
We had just under 90 guests during the day and around 130 to the night.
What did you do the night before your wedding?
The night before Niall, the groomsmen and both dad’s stayed at one of the Cottages at Wynyard. They enjoyed having the hot tub to chill out in and watch the first world cup matches.
Beth, her bridesmaid’s and both mum’s, enjoyed a night in Wynyard Hall and went to The Stables for a meal. Beth stayed in the Lady Mae suite the night before which was great and spacious for getting ready the next morning.
What theme and colours did you go for?
We chose a dusty pink colour theme with purples mixed in. I wanted my flowers to look very wild and natural which is exactly what Valerie Rose did for me! Everyone commented on them saying they were beautiful!
Beth’s dress was an Essence of Australia dress from Accent Original Bridal Boutique in Newcastle. A fitted mermaid style, with an illusion back and a very long lace train. The bridesmaid’s dresses were dusty pink maxi dresses from Coast.
Niall’s suit and shoes were Ted Baker, bought from House of Fraser. His waist coat was Moss. The groomsmen suits were all from Slaters menswear in Newcastle.
Tell us about your wedding photos…
Our Photographer Paul Liddement was brilliant throughout the day, we were never told to pose or made to spend time away from our guests unless it was what we wanted! We chose Paul as we wanted very natural photos just capturing the day as it happened. We both love the photo Paul took of us in the ballroom with the light from the windows highlighting us. He is very clever with using everyday objects to create lighting such as the sunlight bouncing off a chandler in this one.
Tell us about your food and drink…
We chose to have Carrot and Lentil soup to start, followed by Beef dinner and White Chocolate and Raspberry cheesecake for desert. All our guests commented on how lovely the food was, everyone seemed to enjoy! It was great having a tasting before as we would specify exactly how we wanted it. We chose to have hot meat sandwiches and chips for our night time buffet.
What entertainment did you choose?
We had a photo booth from Picturebook studios for the evening, everyone loved how they dressed you up and had a laugh with you while you were in there. We have a scrap book with all the photos and messages from all our guests in to keep and look through.
What other special touches did you add?
We had our little fur baby, Dougie come to the hall to get some pictures with us, we loved being able to have him as part of our day and are grateful Wynyard allowed us to have him there.
Tell us about your honeymoon…
We are so excited about our honeymoon, we are away for just over three weeks and travelling to some amazing places. We fly to Miami where we will spend a few nights in Fort Lauderdale before boarding Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas for a two week cruise around the Caribbean. We are going to places such as Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Bahamas, St Kits and Nevis and St Thomas before ending our honeymoon with four nights in Miami.
Do you have any tips for other brides and grooms?
Just take every second of it in, the day goes by so quickly! We booked our honeymoon for a month after the wedding meaning we have something else to look forward to and time to get excited. I’m so pleased we have as it doesn’t feel like it’s all over with quite yet!
