As the evening draws to a close, another Wynyard Hall wedding comes to an end. Matthew Ati (28), and Rebecca Ellerton (26), both from Newcastle, have tied the knot with a romantic wedding in our Main Hall.
Before they jetted off on their Honeymoon, we had a chance to sit down with the blushing bride, Rebecca and discuss her day.
Can you tell us a little about how you and Mathew met?
We met when we were younger, we both went to the same climbing club; we have been inseparable ever since!
He proposed while we were on holiday in Dubai. Matthew booked us a table at the ‘Atmosphere Armani Lounge’ in the Burj Khalifa one night; it took us so long to find the right entrance so by the time we got there we were very late and very sweaty! We were standing by a window looking at the beautiful view and when I turned around he was on one knee! I had no idea.
What made you choose Wynyard Hall for your romantic wedding?
We knew it was the place for us to get married from the minute we walked through the main entrance. I felt like a princess! Beautiful hall, stunning grounds, and amazing staff – it was the full package. The Mirror Room was our favourite room! It is so elegant and classy with the mirrors and intricate gold décor. It was the perfect room to marry in.
Clare, our wedding coordinator, was absolutely amazing. She explained everything so well and I always felt at ease. Even with my indecisiveness, Clare was professional, patient, kind, and approachable.
Tell us all about your wedding! What colour scheme, theme and flowers did you choose?
We had 60-day guests and an additional 40 guests arrived for the evening function. We decided on rose gold for our colour scheme and we picked beautiful pink and ivory roses for the flowers which worked perfectly together. We would highly recommend Claire from ‘Floral Grace’; she takes the time to understand what you picture your flowers to look like and adapts that to your budget. An extremely skilled professional! Leona from ‘Posh Chair Covers and Bows’ also did an amazing job decorating the rooms to match our theme, it looked way better than I had ever imagined.
What wedding menu did you choose?
For our starters we chose the cheese soufflé, we chose beef for our main, and for dessert, we chose the mango cheesecake with passion fruit puree. It was absolutely delicious; even with the excitement of the day we both cleared our plates! The service was incredible, it could not be faulted. I had so many comments from our friends and family stating how helpful and friendly everyone was. It just made our day perfect.
Did you do anything special on the before your Wedding?
On the day before. I booked into the spa with my bridesmaids before checking into one of the cottages. It was the perfect way to relax before the big day. We went out for dinner and relaxed in the hot tub. Matthew also stayed in a cottage with his groomsmen.
Tell us about the dress… What style was it? Where was it from? What did your bridesmaids wear?
My dress was a fitted white lace gown with quite a long train. It was from a lovely bridal boutique in Harrogate called ‘Rogue Bridal’. They were amazing. My bridesmaids wore rose gold floor length multi-way dresses from ‘Oasis’.
What did Matthew wear, and where was it from?
Matthew wore his military uniform for the ceremony and the wedding breakfast. He then changed into a navy suit from ‘M&S’.
Tell us about your wedding photos… which one was your favourite and why?
‘2Tone Photography’ were there to capture our special day. Both Nigel and Christina went above and beyond. We have the most beautiful photos to look back on from our wedding day. It is so hard to choose a favourite but we had some photos at sunset and they are breathtakingly beautiful; they’re incredibly talented photographers.
Tell us about your entertainment…
We had Faye Shearer sing during our ceremony and drinks reception. She is so gifted at what she does, an incredibly beautiful singer.
For the evening ‘Last Anthem’ performed; they livened up the night with their unbelievable singing and dance moves. They come onto the dance floor and even get up on the tables; they got everyone in the room involved, the atmosphere was great!
We also had Reaction Fireworks; the fireworks were spectacular and were definitely the icing on the cake! Incredible.
Where are you and Matthew jetting off to for your honeymoon?
We’re travelling to the Maldives for our honeymoon; 2 weeks in a water villa with a private pool…absolute bliss.
Do you have any wedding planning tips?
Enjoy it! It is so easy to stress about this and that but it all comes together… even if you’re not sticking to the timetable set out in a bridal planner! Just relax and enjoy this special time.
Lastly, would you recommend Wynyard Hall for a romantic wedding to other couples?
I would highly recommend Wynyard Hall to everyone. It is a day we will always remember, one of the happiest of our lives. From the day we booked right through to our wedding day I felt so at ease; you can relax on the day knowing that everything will be taken care of.
