CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT HOW YOU MET AND THE PROPOSAL?

We both worked in the same bank in Middlesbrough, we started talking more on social media and exchanged numbers after the Christmas party- the rest is history.
We were on a family holiday in Rhodes with Jennifer’s mum, dad and sister. It was the first time Dan had been abroad. Dan organised a day trip to the medieval old town and got down on one knee during lunch in the middle of a packed restaurant, everyone applauded- it was so romantic.

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE WYNYARD HALL FOR YOUR FAIRYTALE WEDDING?

It was always going to be Wynyard Hall. Jennifer grew up in Wynyard and had her school prom at Wynyard Hall. We knew we wanted a horse and carriage on the day and Wynyard is just a 5-minute drive from her parents’ house so it was perfect!
Our favourite room is The Chapel.  We knew we wanted a church wedding and the chapel was the perfect size to make our wedding feel more intimate. The marble and stained glass windows were simply stunning and looked amazing in the photographs.

HOW MANY GUESTS DID YOU HAVE?

We had 80-day guests and around 100 evening guests.

WHAT COLOUR SCHEME AND FLOWERS DID YOU CHOOSE?

We had a pale pink and baby blue colour scheme and wanted the day to be timeless and elegant. We had a mix of pink, blue and ivory flowers which we described as a country garden theme. Our florist was amazing she designed the flowers to bring together all the details of the day perfectly.

WHAT WEDDING MENU DID YOU CHOOSE?

We chose spring chicken and leek terrine with sweetcorn relish and toasted sourdough for our starter, red wine braised beef feather blade with grand mere garnish, fine beans and mashed potato for main, and sticky toffee pudding and ice cream for dessert.  It was made extra special by the kitchen being so accommodating. Jennifer doesn’t like any kind of cake or dessert so the kitchen served raspberry sorbet for her so she didn’t miss out. The service was absolutely seamless.

DID YOU DO ANYTHING SPECIAL ON THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR FAIRYTALE WEDDING?

We had around 20 people around our parents’ house the night before the wedding. The men upstairs in the games room playing pool and table football and the women downstairs playing some naughty games with plenty of wine.

TELL US ABOUT THE DRESS… WHAT STYLE WAS IT? WHERE WAS IT FROM? WHAT DID YOUR BRIDESMAIDS WEAR?

The dress designed was Maggie Sottero and was from Amore Bridal in Acklam. The dress was strapless with a sweetheart neckline and a beautiful long lace train. The bridesmaids wore baby blue off the shoulder dresses by True Bride from Christian Alexander in Norton.

WHAT DID THE GROOM WEAR, AND WHERE WAS IT FROM?

The groom wore a navy blue tweed suit. The suits were Marc Darcy from Bakers Tailoring in Middlesbrough.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR WEDDING PHOTOS…

Our wedding photos were taken by one of Wynyard Hall’s recommended photographers, Focal Point Photography. David and Paul were amazing. They made us feel so at ease and took so many beautiful natural photographs. We are torn between two favourites! One taken just after we left the chapel showing our first kiss which is beautiful and the second shows the two of us on the hill behind Wynyard Hall. My veil is blowing in the wind and shows the scenery perfectly.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR ENTERTAINMENT…

We had Jeremy Mcmurray play the organ during the ceremony and the piano during our cocktail reception. He played a selection of songs from our favourite movies and musicals which included our favourite Disney tracks.
On the evening we had a vintage photobooth from PictureBook PartyBooths who were amazing. Our guests couldn’t get enough of them!
We had our first dance to ‘Thinking Out Loud’ by Ed Sheeran played by our DJ from Persona Events, followed by the Katherine Stone Band play a number of 80s music and popular songs to really get the party started. Our DJ came back on until the early hours so our guests could dance the night away.

WHERE DID YOU BOTH JET OFF TO FOR YOUR HONEYMOON?

We booked a last-minute minimoon two days after the wedding and went to Majorca. We are going to Disney World Orlando later this year.

WAS THERE ANYTHING SPECIAL OR UNUSUAL ABOUT YOUR FAIRYTALE  WEDDING?

We wanted to make sure we incorporated our loved ones that had passed away before the wedding so had a memory table with pictures of everyone that would have been there with a small candle which all of the guests loved.
Our horse and carriage was definitely one of the highlights of the day. It was an original victorian convertible carriage in royal blue with two white horses. Jennifer loves period dramas so we had to incorporate one into the day.

DO YOU HAVE ANY WEDDING PLANNING TIPS?

Make sure to take some time for the two of you as the day goes over so fast. We loved having moments together when we were having the photos taken and took a 20-minute carriage ride just the two of us.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND WYNYARD HALL TO OTHER COUPLES PLANNING A FAIRYTALE WEDDING?

We would definitely recommend Wynyard Hall to other couples planning their fairytale wedding. The venue is simply beautiful and everyone mentioned how perfect the day was. The staff were so supportive and took really good care of us.
Rebecca was our wedding coordinator. She knew I was a wedding planner myself so let me take over the organisation of the day. Our master of ceremonies was fantastic-  he went above and beyond to make sure we were both taken care of throughout the day and managed to calm Dan’s nerves before the ceremony and the speeches.
