Real Wedding: Carly and David’s Sentimental Wedding

By 13th November 2019 No Comments

Carly and David said ‘I do’ with a stunning, sentimental wedding at Wynyard Hall! With an onsite 12th Century Chapel, beautiful staterooms and breathtaking lakeside views on the terrace, Wynyard Hall brought back incredible memories for this couple and helped create many more with loved ones.

MEET THE GROOM

David Lowery 36, Royal Navy Officer

MEET THE BRIDE

Carly Jane Farrow (Lowery) 32, Doctor

HOW MANY GUESTS DID YOU HAVE?

We had 90-day guests and 120-evening guests

CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT HOW YOU MET AND THE PROPOSAL?

We met at the wedding of our two oldest friends Shaun and Emma, David was the best man and Carly was a bridesmaid.

David proposed on our 4 year anniversary with a walk down memory lane. We had breakfast at Hotel Du Vin where we first met, went for a walk to Alnwick gardens, which is where we had our first date and then we came to Wynyard Hall for dinner, which is where we spent our first Christmas eve together… but first, we went to the chapel where David had arranged the most romantic proposal with the chapel filled with candles and “Marry Me?” spelt out in rose petals.

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE WYNYARD HALL?

Wynyard Hall is very special to us both, not only is it a spectacular venue but it also holds very special memories from our engagement.

The chapel is our favourite place at Wynyard, it’s so beautiful and intimate and holds such amazing memories for us.

WHAT COLOUR SCHEME AND FLOWERS DID YOU CHOOSE?

Our colour scheme was peach, white and gold.

WHAT WEDDING MENU DID YOU CHOOSE?

We chose from the summer menu, we picked smoked haddock risotto, feather blade of beef and sticky toffee pudding.

The food was amazing and the service was very professional, everyone was really impressed and loved the food!

DID YOU DO ANYTHING SPECIAL ON THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR WEDDING?

Carly stayed at Wynyard Hall the night before the wedding, with her Mam and Dad and Maid of Honour Francessca, they had dinner in the Wellington restaurant and then met the bridal party for drinks in the bar. David and his groomsmen met friends and family for food and drinks at the local pub near our house.

TELL US ABOUT THE DRESS… WHAT STYLE WAS IT? WHERE WAS IT FROM? WHAT DID YOUR BRIDESMAIDS WEAR?

My dress was a Martina Liana dress from Mia Sposa, it was quite simple at the front with a high neck, the back was an illusion with buttons all the way to the end of the train. The back and sides were embellished with beads and sparkles. I loved it!!
My bridesmaids wore nude peach floor-length dresses with a high neckline embellished with gold and silver.

WHAT DID THE GROOM WEAR, AND WHERE WAS IT FROM?

David wore a bespoke 3 piece blue herringbone suit from Moss Bros. He was able to customise small details and had “Mr &Mrs Lowery 28th Sept 2019” embroidered into the lining. He wore a gold tie and pock square.

His groomsmen wore the same blue herringbone 3 piece suits with a collared waistcoat also from Moss Bros, with a nude peach tie and pocket square to compliment the bridesmaid’s dresses.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR WEDDING PHOTOS… WHICH ONE WAS YOUR FAVOURITE AND WHY?

Our wedding photographer was Vanessa Adams who has photographed a lot of our friend’s weddings so we knew we loved her work. Our favourite photos are of us walking out of the chapel, the details are just beautiful. Everyone looks so happy!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR ENTERTAINMENT…

Our evening entertainment was a Mowtown soul band called ‘Chunky But Funky’, we discovered them whilst at a music and arts festival with our friends in Chapel Allerton. We then had a DJ later in the evening.

WHERE DID YOU BOTH JET OFF TO FOR YOUR HONEYMOON?

We really wanted to have a luxurious and relaxing honeymoon and chose to spend it in Mauritius which was incredibly beautiful. We had an amazing time celebrating being Mr and Mrs!

WAS THERE ANYTHING EXTRA SPECIAL OR UNUSUAL ABOUT YOUR WEDDING?

Music was really important to us throughout the whole day. We hired Cantabile a classically trained choir to sing during the service, they led the hymns and sang both ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ and ‘Lean On Me’, they were amazing!

We are really lucky to have some amazing friends who helped us on the big day! Our friend Jake travelled over from America and arranged and performed his version of ‘All of Me’ by John Legend as Carly walked down the aisle, which was beautiful. Another friend choreographed our first dance to Jack Savoretti – ‘I’m Yours’, which everyone loved!

DO YOU HAVE ANY WEDDING PLANNING TIPS?

Use a wedding planning book to help you organise everything, start planning in plenty of time and enjoy every minute!

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND WYNYARD HALL TO OTHER COUPLES PLANNING A SENTIMENTAL WEDDING?

Yes definitely! The venue is spectacular, the staff are incredible and our day was absolutely perfect, we would love to do it all again!

Our wedding co-ordinator Rebecca was brilliant and helped us so much every step of the way. On the day Carl was amazing, he made sure the day ran smoothly and did a great job in helping our friend Chris to take on the role of master of ceremonies.
