Real Wedding: Anna & Andy

What are your full names? Age and Profession?

Andrew Palmer, 34, Sonographer

Anna Palmer, 32, Chartered Accountant

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal…

We met through mutual friends on Facebook.

Andy proposed in Venice in January 2017. It already had special memories to us as it was where we went on our first holiday as a couple. Andy pretended the holiday was a late Christmas present. But he’d been and purchased an engagement ring and traditionally asked my dad for his permission. Andy’s plan almost came unstuck after I put a hairdryer in his luggage and he got searched at the airport. The lady at security noticed the ring and gave Andy a knowing wink and sent us on our way! I was oblivious to it. On our first night we were just about to get ready to go out when Andy said he needed to speak to me. As I turned round, he was on one knee with the most perfect ring from Debeers.

What made you choose Wynyard Hall?

The grandeur and setting got us through the door. However, it was the calibre of the staff that persuaded us it was the venue we had been searching for. It was the first place we visited and nothing else compared to it.

What is your favourite room (i.e. Chapel / Mirror Room / Ballroom / Conservatory) and why?

The Ballroom, it was where we had our wedding breakfast and there are so many happy memories from the day that all happened in that room. We also managed to get some beautiful photos of our bridal party in the Mirror Room.

Wynyard Gardens

What colour scheme / theme / flowers did you choose?

Navy blue, blush pink and a touch of rose gold.

What wedding menus did you choose? What was special about the food/service?

For starter we had the North Sea Fishcake and Maine was the Roast Chicken Dinner. We couldn’t decide on just one dessert so we requested a trio of desserts which were made up of Chocolate Bavarois, White Chocolate and Raspberry Cheesecake and Lemon Tart. This was served with Muscat Beaumes de Venise dessert wine.

How many guests did you have?

110 on the daytime with an additional 20 evening guests.

What was your Wedding Coordinator like to work with? Were there any staff who particularly stood out on the day?

Clare and Ashleigh were amazing throughout the wedding planning. They couldn’t of done anymore for us. Nothing was too much. One person in particular who made our day run so smoothly was down to the Master of Ceremonies, Ryan.  He was friendly and courteous but still managed to keep the day running to time. Nothing was too much trouble.

What did you do the day/night before your Wedding?

We had a rehearsal for the church ceremony followed by a garden party for the wedding party hosted by my parent’s.

Tell us about the dress… What style was it? Where was it from? What did your bridesmaids wear?

My dress was Suzanne Neville. I’ve loved her style for years. I hated the full experience of looking for a dress, I just felt so disheartened until I went to her shop in Knightsbridge.  The material of the dress caught my eye as soon as I walked into the shop , it was just so different. When I tried it, I just knew. I ended up buying the dress from the Suzanne Neville shop in Wilmslow as it was closer for fittings. I wore Sophia Webster shoes which complimented my dress perfectly

My bridesmaids and flower girl wore Ghost Dresses in Boudoir Pink.

Bride and Groom Gardens

What did the groom wear, and where was it from?

A classic navy blue suit from Marks and Spencer, a white shirt from Eton and a blue and white houndstooth tie from Drake’s.

Tell us about your wedding photos… which one was your favourite and why?

This is a difficult one. Gary Walsh did such an amazing job it’s difficult to choose just one. Our favourites are the one of myself and Andy stood against the gates in the Gardens and the one with me and him looking at each other on the hill above The Hall as the sun sets. It sums up the day for us both. We were surrounded by family and friends in a wonderful setting but it felt like we weere the only people in the world.

Little Bow Brides also did a wonderful job at capturing all of our day and made the perfect film for us to keep. I can’t recommend Philip enough.

Tell us about your entertainment…

We chose Piano DJ for our entertainment – we’d seen them at a wedding before and they were brilliant. There was a pianist for our drinks reception and throughout the wedding breakfast. Then on the evening we had a DJ and a saxophonist.  A choir sang during our church ceremony. We also had a magician (Ryan Phelps) to entertain our guests in the room turnaround. A photo booth from Snaparazzi was a big hit with our evening guests!

Bride and Groom Bell Tower

And your honeymoon?

Straight after the wedding we had a few days in the Lakes to have a bit of time to get away from all of the hype. We are looking to book Santorini in September as our main honeymoon.

Do you have any wedding planning tips?

Start planning early, trust your instincts and remember it’s YOUR day.

Would you recommend Wynyard Hall to other couples?

We couldn’t recommend it enough. From the initial meeting till the day after the wedding, nothing was too much. We can’t thank the wedding team enough for the efforts they went to in assisting to make our special day so perfect.
