With a beautiful lakeside terrace and breath taking Gardens, Wynyard Hall is the perfect destination for a Winter wedding. Jess and Dan married in December with a traditional ceremony in the chapel followed by a relaxed evening of festive entertainment.

WHERE ARE YOU BOTH FROM?
We both now live in Boldon.
CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT HOW YOU MET AND THE PROPOSAL?
We first met at Next when we worked there together part time 10 years ago. In December 2019 we went back to our favourite place, New York City and Dan got down on one knee when we were in Central Park, it was the most magical moment!
WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE WYNYARD HALL FOR YOUR TRADITIONAL WINTER WEDDING?
As soon as we saw Wynyard Hall we instantly fell in love with it! The grounds and architecture are amazing and so grand. We also loved that there was a Chapel inside the hall itself which is quite unique compared to a lot of other wedding venues.
DID YOU DO ANYTHING SPECIAL THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR TRADITIONAL WINTER WEDDING?
A lot of our guests were staying locally or at Wynyard the night before our wedding so around 35 of us went to the Wynyard Golf Club for food and drinks which was lovely and a nice way to wind down before the big day.
TELL US ABOUT THE DRESS… WHAT STYLE WAS IT? WHERE WAS IT FROM?
My dress was a Pronovias wedding dress called the “Landis” which is a Princess wedding dress with bateau neckline and long sleeves in embroidered tulle. It was from the Bridal Rogue Gallery in Harrogate who altered the dress at the back adding further lace which made the dress totally unique to me. The shoes: I went for ivory satin block heel ankle strap court shoes from Lace and Favour.
ANY TIPS FOR FUTURE GROOMS?
Try to be involved as much as possible in the planning process so you know exactly what to expect on the day. Take in all of the little moments and make sure you save some time just for the two of you as the day goes so quick!
DO YOU HAVE ANY WEDDING PLANNING TIPS?
I was lucky to be marrying a wedding photographer who recommended all of the best suppliers in the industry which made this part of the wedding planning easy and we can’t thank each and every supplier enough for everything they did for us on our big day! Spreadsheets got us through our planning process to make sure we had everything as organised as possible so I would definitely recommend creating a spreadsheet to keep track of appointments, payments, guest lists, table plans etc. The most important thing is to remember that the things you worry about before the wedding you won’t even notice on your big day so try not to let the stress of the planning take over the excitement of it all!
DID YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL REQUESTS FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY?
We went for a very Christmas themed wedding and Jill, our Wedding Coordinator was a huge help in making sure our wedding was as a Christmassy as possible. We had Santa hat toppers for the reception drinks, Carol’s during the ceremony, Christmas Tree centre pieces, fireworks and a night full of Christmas songs!
WOULD YOU RECOMMEND WYNYARD HALL TO OTHER COUPLES PLANNING A TRADITIONAL SUMMER WEDDING?
We have struggled to think of a single favourite thing about having a wedding at Wynyard Hall as there are just too many! The grounds, Statue Gallery, Ballroom, Conservatory and Chapel are just absolutely beautiful and so grand, it was the perfect fit for our Christmas themed wedding! All of the staff at Wynyard made sure our day went as smoothly as possible and everyone commented on how amazing the venue and staff were!
We could not recommend Wynyard Hall enough as the most perfect venue to get married at and we can’t wait to visit again very soon. Thank you for the memories Wynyard Hall!
