Current Events & Marketing Vacancies

PR Coordinator / Copywriter (3 days per week)

As a PR professional to support the marketing department, you will help to achieve maximum PR exposure in trade and consumer titles (online and print). This role is initially part time, working hours can be flexible and the role may increase to full time for the right candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities

• To provide exceptional copywriting for magazine editorial, website content, blog posts, email campaigns and printed marketing material.
• To work alongside Marketing Manager to create newsworthy PR stories, and to source information and quotes for press releases.
• Daily management of Response Source PR software, including responding to media alerts, managing media contacts and distributing press releases.
• Help maintain positive relationships with journalists, advertisers and other media contacts.
• To assist with the organisation and delivery of press events, manage the guest list and meet and greet media professionals.
• To monitor media coverage, track and report results.
• To schedule / assist with photoshoots, filming and interviews as required.
• Adhere to all brand guidelines, acting as an ambassador for the Wynyard Hall brand.
• To perform any other duties as and when required.

Person Specification

Qualification / Education: Must be educated to degree level or in the final year of studies with grade 2:1 or higher. Applicants from journalism, media or communications courses are preferred.
Knowledge & Experience: Must have knowledge of PR / journalism / media sector. No industry experience is required, although internships / work placements within similar roles would be advantageous.
IT Skills: Excellent IT skills are essential. The successful candidate will be using Microsoft Office and other software on a daily basis.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Must demonstrate a professional telephone manner and be able to communicate effectively with other departments.
Teamwork & Motivation: Must be enthusiastic and passionate about PR and copywriting, contributing to team morale. Must be flexible and willing to help other team members during busy periods. Looking for someone with a ‘can do’ attitude, willing to learn and wanting to work towards growing the Wynyard Hall brand.
Planning & Organisational Skills: Must be able to manage a busy workload and meet tight deadlines within a fast paced business.

Current Kitchen Vacancies

Junior Sous Chef

As Junior Sous you will be working in an outstanding, rosette level kitchen with the creativity to produce some of the finest food using only the finest ingredients. You will have the responsibility for your own section within the kitchen including training and development of the junior team, health & safety and hygiene. You will also support the management of the kitchen brigade and will be responsible for the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef & Sous Chef.

Skills and qualification requirements of a Junior Sous Chef:

Experience in a similar position is essential and we are looking for commitment and dedication. This is an ideal position for an experienced Chef de Partie looking to take the next step as we offer excellent training and development opportunities.

Chef de Partie

We are currently looking to hire experienced Chef de Partie’s for our fantastic venue. You will have worked in a similar role at a 2/3 rosette level to be able to succeed. We are looking for a hard working person who is a team player with very high levels of attention to detail. Candidates must be able to manage a section or multiple sections to an extremely high calibre.

Set within 150 acres of historical landscaped parkland, Wynyard Hall is an impressive four red star hotel, on the fringes of Durham in the Tees Valley; we offer a winning combination of elegant grandeur and contemporary comfort. From the stunning function rooms, a Marquee which can cater for 15 to 650 guests, to the 20 individually designed bedrooms and suites and 4 cottages, it is the perfect venue for any occasion.

The renowned Wellington Restaurant offers an ever changing menu of modern British dishes created with the finest local ingredients, while those looking to unwind can enjoy a range of beauty and body treatments in the tranquil surroundings of the lakeside Spa.

We are developing our Walled Gardens with a Visitors Centre which will have a Café/Deli/Self Service catering venue which seat 100 inside and 90 outside.

All produce is locally sourced and made in-house daily.

Commis Chef

As one of our Commis Chefs you will be an essential part of our team helping organise and prepare the kitchen.

  • The Commis Chef must be passionate and have the ability to cope under pressure
  • Someone who can progress to run their own section
  • Must be willing to learn under the wing of the Head chef, Sous chef and Chef de Partie
  • Have worked in a busy establishment
  • Be a team player with a bright personality
  • A consistent performer with great attention to detail
  • Someone who is looking for progression within the company
  • A minimum of 12 months experience is desirable

Skills and qualification requirements of a Junior Sous Chef:

  • Ideally minimum of one years’ experience working within a kitchen environment
  • Ability to work both on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Able to work varied shifts
  • Very good communication skills, specifically the ability to follow instructions
  • Must be of smart appearance with excellent personal hygiene standards

Spa Therapist

Due to increased business volumes we are now recruiting for a full-time spa therapist at Wynyard Hall.

We are looking for a well organised, experienced therapist that has an outgoing personality and that can work well under pressure. You need to have a bubbly personality, a big smile, smart appearance at all times and have an eye for every detail, to succeed in this role. Previous experience with Temple Spa products would be preferable.
