We were thrilled to welcome the Middlesbrough & Teesside Philanthropic Foundation for their annual charity dinner, and were even more delighted to discover the event helped raise £38,000 which will be shared between community groups and people that need it most in Teesside.
The founder and chairman, Andy Preston, said he hoped the fundraiser would “spread a little fairness and goodwill’ amidst the doom and gloom of the North East steelworks closure.
Two auctions raised a grand total of £19,000 with prizes including stays in Mallorca, a meet and greet with Paul Smith’s band Maximo Park and a £5 note issued by the Stockton and Cleveland Bank in 1811.
Over the last four years, funds raised by the charity have been invested in the local community. They’ve helped set up apprenticeships, supported food banks, community groups and much, much more.
